The Journey Down Chapter 3

The Journey Down Chapter 3 Review

Hello everybody, Shaun Meyers here to share my thoughts on The Journey Down Chapter 3 by Sky Goblin.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of the game for review purposes but like all of my reviews, this had no effect on my thoughts and experiences.

Well folks, we’ve officially arrived at the conclusion to The Journey Down. Chapter 3 picks up where chapter 2 left off with Bwana, Kito and Lina arriving in the underland. While there, they uncover the Armando Power Company’s true plot and thus set out on a journey to stop them. Bwana and Kito return to St. Armando and team up with a band known as the Resistance Rockers while Lina stays in The Underland to stop the power company’s mining.

This chapter was highly entertaining and it was definitely the funniest chapter of the 3. One thing that’s worth mentioning is that because of the original composer having died during the development 2 (Which sucks) this chapter has a very different feel music wise. It’s still very good but a lot of the Afro-Caribbean feel is lost in this chapter.

The game’s graphics are as gorgeous as ever and it’s unique hand drawn 2D backgrounds mixed with it’s 3D characters are very impressive to look at. I especially loved the backgrounds for The Underland. I also really liked the 1980’s style cyberpunk theme that was used for St. Armando. It added to the rather bleak outlook that the game took on and it fit the story very well.

Puzzle wise they were slightly more difficult this time around. Mostly because there were multiple areas for both St. Armando and The Underland which made finding some of the items a bit more difficult since they weren’t overly obvious. They weren’t too difficult to figure out but I recommend searching everywhere possible and in every nook and cranny.

Overall, The Journey Down Chapter 3 was a very entertaining end to a great journey. It was the culmination of the many years of work that went into making the series and while the music was slightly different, it features a great story and likable characters. I highly recommend playing the previous games before this one to get the most out of it. If you’re a fan of point and click adventure games like myself, I highly recommend this series, it’s pretty epic.

Thanks for taking the time to read the review folks. I’ll be back with my next review soon, until then, happy gaming folks!

Shaun Meyers out!
