The Outpost Nine PC Review

Hello everybody, Shaun Meyers here to share my thoughts on The Outpost Nine by Benjy Bates and Sedoc LLC.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of the game from Sedoc LLC through Keymailer for review/video purposes. Like all of my reviews, this had no effect on my thoughts and experiences with the game.

The Outpost Nine is an episodic text adventure/visual novel that follows a team of 8 crew members onboard a mining station. Episode one consists of 2 chapters total. The first chapter introduces the characters and has some light gameplay elements. Chapter 2 consists of mostly gameplay as you guide one of the characters around a small portion of the station in an attempt to escape the area.

The story is very well written and had my full attention throughout the course of the episode. Each of the characters were interesting and it gave off a very 1970’s sci-fi feel. The classic CRT monitor graphics and art added to that feeling by quite a bit.

Gameplay takes a bit of a backseat to the story in this game but since it’s more of a text adventure, this is unsurprising. Gameplay revolves around choosing actions for the character you’re controlling. You can move them to different locations, investigate areas and objects or talk to people. Think of a classic RPG like Dragon Quest/Warrior, it’s a similar setup.

Overall, The Outpost Nine was an entertaining text adventure and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story continues in the next episode. If you’re a fan of classic text adventures and have some free time, The Outpost Nine is worth checking out.

Thanks for taking the time to read this short review for The Outpost Nine folks. I’ll be back with my next review soon, until then, happy gaming folks!

Shaun Meyers out!
