The Crew 2 Open Beta Impressions
Hello everybody, Shaun Meyers here to share my impressions from The Crew 2 open beta.
The open beta for The Crew 2 has gone pretty well and I’ve been having a blast playing the game with my friend Richard.
For those that are unfamiliar with The Crew series, it’s an open world racing MMORPG. You can play the game with your friends and you can traverse the entirety of the USA.
There are quite a few things that have impressed me in this open beta. The first being the updated graphics, which looks absolutely gorgeous on a PS4 Pro. The water effects are more realistic, the lighting is a lot better and the overall world textures look superb.
The second thing I was most impressed with was the vehicle selection. Instead of just the trucks, cars and motorcycles in the first game, you have a wide range of different types of vehicles open to you. These include power boats, off-road vehicles. Street cars, airplanes, and touring car to name only a few.
Even though the vehicle selection itself was a bit limited in this open beta, there was enough there to give you numerous things to purchase. It was pretty easy to buy the best vehicles as long as you kept coming in first though.
The world feels humongous and at over 2,000 square miles in total, it really is.. Cities feel like they’re a bit smaller in scale but this is likely due to the car lineup this time.
Another feature that I’m really impressed with is the live map. You can zoom in and zoom out of the world map and it displays literally everything in real-time. This is something I’ve never seen before and it’s really impressive to witness. Another really cool real-time feature they’ve added the live ghosts for performing jumps and various stunts across the world. When you complete a stunt your ghost can be seen performing the stunt in real time. This is another thing that I’ve never seen done before and it’s also really cool to witness.
The open beta was limited to only 3 levels in popularity and maxed out at Popular. This also limited the events you could take part in but the events that they had were a great deal of fun. Events varied in style as well and included rally raid’s street races, motocross, power boat races, freestyle stunt races and many more. The full game will have an immense amount of events to take part in though and it’s gonna be a lot of fun. Also, for regular races you can race against anyone in your crew (Party) as long as they accept the invite.
I will say that from what I’ve seen in this open beta, the game is looking really impressive and I’m looking forward to giving the full release a try in the future. If you’re a fan of racing games and want to drag your friends along for the ride then this one is definitely worth checking out, it’s pretty awesome. We’ll see how the game performs when it launches in full on June 26th, 2018.
Thanks for taking the time to read this short impressions article. I’ll hopefully have another one soon. Happy gaming folks!
Shaun Meyers out!
