Crazy Dreamz Magicats Edition Preview
Hello everybody, Shaun Meyers here to share my thoughts on Crazy Dreamz Magicats Edition by Dreamz Studio.
Crazy Dreamz Magicats Edition is a free to play platformer that’s currently making its way through Steam Early Access. The game takes a lot of inspiration from Super Mario Maker where you can create your own unique levels to share with the community.
The game features 3 areas, play, build and adventure. In the play window, you can play any of the levels that other people have created and shared. Build mode allows you to construct your own levels to share with the community. Finally, Adventure mode allows you to play through various tutorial levels that teach you the various mechanics in the game.
Levels created by other players range in difficulty and style but many of them are designed to be quite difficult. If you manage to complete the levels you’ll gain gold which can be used to purchase card packs which give you new building materials in build mode. You can only obtain gold in a level once a day but if you return the next day you’ll be able to play it again for more.
One thing to keep in mind about building things is that your resources are limited. They can be replenished by purchasing card packs but to get the most amount of resources you’ll need to purchase gems for higher end card packs. Gems can only be purchased using real world currency which is where the free top lay comes into play. I will admit that non-paying players are at a bit of a disadvantage level creation wise.
One nice feature that the game has to offer is the ability to make money through your levels/creations. The developer has a program built in that rewards those that build new levels frequently and those that create popular levels.
The game also features character customization. You can choose your head gear, fur color, clothes, and staff. You unlock more of each as you continue playing the game.
Gameplay wise the game is pretty standard for 2D platformers. It doesn’t do anything revolutionary so if you’ve played a 2D platformer before, you won’t have any trouble with this game.
Overall, Crazy Dreamz Magicats Edition shows promise but in its current state, it’s a bit on the buggy side. With some more updates, and bug fixes the game could turn into something truly impressive. It worth keeping an eye on and I wish the developers luck in the continued development of the game.
Thanks for thaking the time to read my preview folks. I’ll be back with my next one soon, until then, happy gaming folks!
