Deiland PS4 Review

Hello everybody, Shaun Meyers here to share my thoughts on the PS4 version of Deiland by Chibig.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of the game from Chibig for review purposes. Like all of my reviews, however, this had no effect on m thoughts and experiences with the game.

Deiland is a simulation/RPG that follows a young boy named Arco who inhabits a tiny planet. Arco’s story revolves around the meeting of 12 unique characters and an unknown darkness that speaks to Arco in his dreams.

The tiny planet is it’s own sandbox and you can develop it in any way you choose. There are 12 different structures for you to unlock and build. There’s also farming elements where you can grow vegetables and other plants. These plants are then used in the game’s crafting system. You can also plant trees around the game world as well.

It’s worth mentioning that the game’s beginning is a very slow burn. It begins picking up pace as you grow new plants, complete quests, and meet new characters. Once the game picks up you’ll be able to travel to other planets, fight bigger enemies and unlock a wide variety of new crafting recipes.

Arco’s house is where you do all of your crafting. It can be upgraded a total of four times. Each upgrade adds a new section to the house including a Kitchen, workshop and a laboratory. Each area houses it’s own unique items to craft.

The kitchen allows you to cook various types of food, while The forge allows you to build and upgrade tools. The workshop allows you to create crafting materials such as fabric and alcohol. Finally, the laboratory allows you to craft potions.

Each tool in the game has a special purpose. The axe allows you to cut down trees to gather wood. The hammer allows you to break rocks for stone and to build new structures. The hoe allows you to plant various vegetables and trees. The wand allows you to perform various magic abilities. The water bucket allows you to take water from a well to water your crops. Finally, the fishing pole allows you to catch various types of fish.

Various NPC’s will visit Arco’s tiny planet from time to time. When they do you are able to choose where you wish them to land. Each of the 12 characters you meet has quests for you to complete. These quests often grant Arco money or even new crafting recipes. Once a task is complete, you simply have to wait for the characters to return to turn them in.

There are a lot of things that I enjoyed about this game. First was it’s gorgeous graphics. Everything from the space skybox to the planet itself is beautifully detailed. The second area that I was impressed with was it’s music. It’s very relaxing music throughout and it makes you feel at ease the vast majority of the time. It’s also chock full of things to do as well and the further you get the more things that you can do. Deiland is a very impressive game and I had a blast playing it. I highly recommend it if you’re a fan of games like Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing.

Thanks for taking the time to read the review folks! I’ll be back with my next review soon, until then, happy gaming!

Shaun Meyers out!
